Not ready to make nice, not ready to back down.
This line was taken from the song "Not ready to make nice", by the Dixie Chicks. I am going through a lot of rough stuff right now, and this horse is sort of making it's last stand. He is right on the edge of the cliff, facing away from it, but he knows it's there. The eyes are an amber/auburn colour because he is going half insane with rage, that he is slowly being consumed.
